Disney's Darkest Show You Barely Even Remember
Jul 03, 2025
Long before Disney Channel leaned into glittery pop stars and an ungodly amount of sitcoms, there was So Weird, which was a very special and unique show on Disney at that time. When you think of Disnye, ghosts, spirits, death or even demons isn't the first word that comes to you mind. Unlike other shows, So Weird stood out compared to its bubbly peers in the channel. Malcolm in the Middle Revolutionized the Sitcom Genre
July 01, 2025
Malcolm in the Middle was (and still is) one of the beloved TV sitcoms of all time. For its time, it was unique and groundbreaking. It had no laugh tracks like the other sitcoms, filmed using single-camera setup and it was one of the few shows to be relatable. Even viewers who are not from the US found it relatable. You might think how bias I am. Well, that's partly true but I am talking about facts here. It literally changed the landscape of the sitcom genre at that time. For instance, it was the first sitcoms to that spoke to us, literally. That fourth-wall-breaking kid made the majority of the population feel normal, especially to those average and poor kids who had parents worked multiple jobs.
Despite premiering 25 years ago (yes, you're old) it was ahead of its time. It was filmed like a movie, using a single-used camera. They also experimented with a lot of editing style, like we see in the "Bowling" episode. In fact, that episode won an Emmy award for Outstanding Directing and Writing in a Comedy Series. This episode was one of the most iconic episodes on television. This episode splits the screen showing two different outcomes, one with Lois as the chauffeur and the other as Hal. Although it was funny, notably when Malcolm frustratingly went directly to the bowling pins but still he manages to fail to get a strike (FunFact: That wasn't scripted). on going
Sum Forty-Gone
June 30, 2025
Sum 41 is one of my favorite bands. Last year, when they announced their last tour, I was really sad because I never got the chance to see them. They're one of the bands that helped my lonely life a tad bit more tolerable.
My childhood was somewhat fine but I was the only kid in my neighborhood. I had to go to the park to play with somebody but most of the time I couldn't even go out because my dad was irresponsible and my mum was working. So, I spent a lot of time by myself, watching cable TV 24/7 and listening to music through my mum’s little cube speaker.
I plugged in my mum's old flash drive and listened to all kinds of music. This is where my love of Alternative Rock, Punk and Pop Rock began. I sometimes tuned into music channels like MTV and Myx (Filipino version of MTV) whenever I was bored playing with my toys.
Even if I wasn't alive in the late 90s and the early 00s, I feel grateful to be surrounded with that kind of music growing up, it has definitely shaped me in all possible ways. Sadly, the genre kind of died out in the mid-2010s. But now, I just learned that Sum 41 planned to stop touring. At least they won a JUNO Award or something. Even Stevo received an award but he gave it to his mum back to Canada.
